Thursday, August 13, 2015 at Fairbanks Golf course
Individual match play golfers play 18 holes. A hole point is awarded for each hole won. If a player is up more holes than there are left to play, the match is over. Example: player A is up 3 points and there are only 2 holes left so player A wins 3 & 2. You may continue playing the remaining holes, but the match is complete. Player A scores 1 match point for his/her team. If the match ends in a tie, each player scores ½ match point for his/her team.
The golfers playing as partners will use the following formats. 1 match point is available on the front 9 and 1 match point is available on the back 9 holes.
Fourball competition for holes 1-9
The first hole is played with each player playing his/her own golfball.
The gross scores are compared at the end of the hole to determine the winner or if there is a tie. Points are recorded as in individual match play. Play continues until one team wins or 9 holes are played. Ties are left as “All Square” with each team scoring ½ match point.
Foursome Competition for holes 10-18
For each team of two players, one will tee off on the odd holes and the other player will tee off on the even holes. After the tee shot, the players will alternate shots through the holeout. The gross scores will be compared to determine individual hole points as in individual match play. Play continues until one team wins or 9 holes are played. Ties are left as “All Square” with each team scoring ½ match point.
After all play is finished, the match points are added up and the Team with the most match points is in First and the other team finishes Second.
